Dr Weaver is currently an academic clinical lecturer and senior research fellow at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and University of Manchester, Division of Cancer Sciences. He is currently working in the group of Professor David Wedge investigating the somatic changes that drive the transition or pre-cancerous lesions to invasive malignancy.

He completed his medical training at The University of Cambridge in 2015. During his medical training he took part in the Cambridge MB/PhD programme completing his PhD with Professor Rebecca Fitzgerald studying the somatic genetic changes that drive the development of oesophageal adenocarcinoma from Barrett’s oesophagus. In 2017 he took up a post as a Medical Oncology trainee at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and was awarded his academic clinical lectureship in 2020.
